Beginning with Docker Desktop 4.3.0, we have removed the hard requirement to install Rosetta 2. There are a few optional command line tools that still require Rosetta 2 when using Darwin/AMD64. See the Known issues section. However, to get the best experience, we recommend that you install Rosetta 2. To install Rosetta 2 manually from the command line, run the following command:

Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader is a two-step process: Download the installation package and install Acrobat Reader from the package file. You do not have to remove the older version of Reader before installing Acrobat Reader.

Before you install Acrobat Reader on your computer, ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. If you're on macOS Big Sur, read the Big Sur compatibility document to understand the known issues.

You need macOS version 10.13 or later to run Acrobat Reader. For older versions of macOS, you can install an earlier version of Reader. For step-by-step instructions, see Install an older version of Acrobat Reader on macOS.

To see if other users are experiencing similar download and installation problems, visit the Acrobat Reader user forum. Try posting your problem on the forums for interactive troubleshooting. When posting on forums, include your operating system and product version number.

Setting up a new MacBook Pro which has a clean install of Monterey. The Dropbox website transmitted a download of the installer (dropboxinstaller.dmg) to my Downloads folder. When I double click it, or right-click/control-click it to open the popup menu and select Open from the menu, the icon briefly looks like it is expanding with the genie effect, but the effect lasts for just a split second and then.... Nothing. No installer window, no objection for being signed or not signed, no information about what is or isn't happening. Just a stone-cold finder window showing the installer file, still right where it was, doing nothing. I am the admin with full permissions on this computer. Under security, about allowing installation of apps, I have selected to allow both app-store apps and apps with a valid signature. Nothing seems to help. It is so weird to just get a blip that sort of looks like a real response, but then nothing actually happens. No processes are seen as "not responding" to force-quit. Really obtuse!! If I go back to the website and select to use the desktop app, first I get a page saying "To get started" and then a big button "Launch Dropbox App" as if it was already installed. Clicking that button, I guess the site realizes it's not installed and says "To get started" and the big button says "Download Dropbox App". Clicking that sometimes does nothing and other times makes another redundant copy of the installer. Just like all the other copies, the installer does not open or launch like a normal .DMG should, no matter how cleverly I try to open it. I have tried modifying every security option short of disabling system integrity protection (god forbid that's what is needed, because really??) What's the deal? How can I install dropbox on this machine? And why won't Dropbox just put the app up in the App Store like so many other successful companies do? It would make it a lot easier, it allows for automatic updates, and (by and large) it actually does the installation without all this fuss.

In macOS, app containers are stored in DMG files, similar to a Windows ISO file. It can hold the software installation file and is treated like a physical drive by macOS. Then, you eject them after opening them and dragging the app to your Applications area.

A DMG file is, therefore, always thought of as a virtual disk drive. Dragging the apps to the Applications folder ought to be sufficient to install a program from a DMG file on a Mac. For certain Mac users, the process is less straightforward because they can't first access the DMG file. However, there are various conditions for Mac users. Here is the complete guideline for opening and mounting DMG Files on Mac.

Thanks to the DMG file, installing software on macOS is more accessible than installing software on Windows. But it is common to experience issues when opening a DMG file, exceptionally if it has been corrupted or hasn't been downloaded entirely to your device. You can attempt one of the four techniques above to open the problematic DMG file. If you accidentally lost your files, you can try EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac to restore the files.

DMG files are to Mac what ISO files are to Windows. After you install an application, its DMG file is useless. Besides, DMG files will take up disk space and may even decrease the running speed of your Mac. Therefore, it is necessary for you to delete unused DMG files in time.

When you want to install a third-party application from the Internet, the first thing you should do is download its DMG file to your Mac. When finished, double-click the .dmg file you downloaded, drag the application to the Applications folder, wait a few seconds, and your application will be installed on your Mac.

The answer is yes. After installing an application, you can directly delete its DMG file unless you want to keep it for archival purposes or in case the installation is incomplete. In addition, developers will update the application regularly. If you're going to use its updated version, then the old DMG file is no longer useful to you.

From the text above, you know that DMG files are no longer useful to you after completing the installation. So in this section, we will teach you how to remove them from your Mac. In fact, the process of deleting DMG files is very simple. You can delete them manually or use a third-party tool like BuhoCleaner to do the job for you. Here's what you need to do:

In fact, there is a faster and easier way to deal with DMG files on Mac. That is to use BuhoCleaner, a handy DMG file finder and cleaner for Mac. You can use it not only to find and delete unused DMG files but also to clean up other junk files in macOS, apps and browsers, as well as Uninstall Apps you don't use.

A DMG file is a mountable disk image primarily used to distribute software to the macOS operating system. Mac users typically download the file from the Internet and then double-click it to install an application on their computer.

DMG is a prevalent distribution format because it maintains the disk image's integrity via checksums. When opening a DMG file to begin the installation process, the DiskImageMounter utility bundled with macOS verifies the checksum to ensure the disk image has not been modified or corrupted during the distribution. This process is valuable for developers and end-users to make sure they install an untampered application.

Although you cannot install software distributed via DMG files in Windows, several Windows applications can extract their contents, including 7-Zip and PeaZip. You can also attempt to convert the DMG file to an .IMG file with the DMG2IMG utility.

For a new installation of Windows 10 Creators Update on an Apple Mac using Boot Camp, you must first install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update using the ISO file, and then update to Windows 10 Creators Update.

If you already attempted to install the Creators Update and see the Stop error with the code 0xc000000f, you will need to use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Windows partition using the steps found here.

On UNIX, one may use the bootstrap script provided in the source tree to build CMake.
